Pastas, Rice, & Soup

We offer a wonderful collection of pasta, and we're proud to introduce our two newest companies, Costa dei Rosmarini, a fine, family-owned enterprise in Liguria, Italy, and La Piana, boasting a family tradition of excellence direct from the Trentino-Alto Adige region of Italy.

We continue to bring you Gia Russa pasta who is “beholden to beauty, balance, and perfection”. Not only are they makers of fine Italian foods, they are artists, and passionate about sharing their vision. Lucky for us.

Rao's Homemade pastas are premium pastas made from fine durum wheat semolina and extruded through bronze dye-cast molds. Cucina Antica pasta has been the choice of fine restaurants and hotels for years.

All are imported from Italy, all still specializing in old fashioned goodness from age old recipes.

Our polenta is a must-have in your urban pantry, and go "outside the red can", and try our Frontier Soups. "Mighty fine, Mame!"

NEW!

We are extremely proud and excited to offer you, our urban gourmet, this top-of-the-line, crafted pasta, Costa dei Rosmarini. It boasts some unique selling points that we want to share with you.

•made with Kronos, the most precious of the durum wheat semolina, unique in taste, and resists overcooking better than any other semolina flour.

•a 48 hour drying process, preserves the flavor and scent of the ingredients.

•drawn through ancient craft cut bronze dies producing irregular cuts and rough surfaces, allowing sauces to adhere better, and enhancing the overall flavor of the pasta.

The timing of everything is a precious "know-how" built over generations. The result is this unique pasta. A bit pricey, but SO worth it!

Remember, try changing just ONE aspect of your culinary arsenal. You'll notice the difference immediately. Your guests will too.

A generous 17.6 oz stylized package; give this a try.

NEW!

LASAGNA! What thoughts come to your mind? Hearty, homemade, a HUGELY LONG preparation time? Honestly now, what step in preparing lasagna do you dread most? BOILING THE NOODLES, RIGHT? And tons of them to fill your 13” x 9” pan 3 layers high.

What about using professional-sized sheet lasagna? 3.5” x 7” dried lasagna sheets and NO-BOIL to boot. Now won’t these “BIGGIES” cut down your prep time considerably? We think so.

Let’s calculate: a 9” x 11” pan 2+ sheets across, 2- sheets long, or an 11” x 13” pan 3 sheets across, 2- sheets long.

Spend your time preparing that “signature” tomato sauce of yours, and less time boiling “whimpy” lasagna noodles in the green box. 8 oz

Oh, and try our San Marzano tomatoes, whole peeled, diced, or crushed, to take your tomato sauce over the top. Simply the "best of the best". San Marzano tomatoes are recommended by Rachael Ray, Giada De Laurentiis, and Tyler Florence of The Foodnetwork. Now who knows better than these guys...pad

Gia Russa Whole Wheat Pasta

To be honest, I've never liked the taste of whole wheat pasta. It was akin to sucking on straw. But no longer. We've discovered Gia Russa whole wheat pasta products, and now we are all about it.

Why whole wheat? How about it's a GOOD CARB, because it is full of important VITAMINS and MINERALS, it has THREE TIMES MORE FIBER than regular pasta, and whole wheat in its natural unrefined form is the key to maintaining OPTIMAL HEALTH. Most importantly is TASTES GREAT!

Just try one box, any variety. Let me know what you think. 16 ozpad

Here is a pantry "must have" that helps "kick start" a delicious homemade soup. Each package requires the addition of a few grocery items; potatoes, broth, and cream for the chowder for example, then simply add the packaged ingredients, and get ready to "wow" your hungry crowd.

SERVING SUGGESTION: Our friend, Mary, adds clams, a dash of tobasco sauce, and a few grinds of pepper to the cream mixture after it simmers for a while. She's on her second bag. Enough said! Thanks for the tip Mary.

You might consider this as a gift for that urban gourmet. Include one of our professional chef's stock pots, the 8 qt. size would be perfect, and what a rock star you'll be. A unique wedding gift perhaps? We like it.

Gia Russa Gnocchi & Tortellini
pad
Pronounced "no-key" (slang for "lump"), the word gnocchi comes from the word "nocchio" meaning a knot in wood. Whatever its origin, as Guy Fieri says, "It's a winner, chicken dinner!"

We've a nice variety for you to try; Potato, Potato Minis, Whole Wheat with Sweet Potato, and a Spinach Tortellini Egg Pasta.

We suggest serving gnocchis with a melted butter sauce or Mike's favorite, a BURNT butter sauce with cheese, a rich tomato sauce, or perhaps a pesto sauce.

These lovlies cook in just minutes, great for a "go-to" meal. 16 ozpad
